It was a very beautiful day, far too hot for those It was a very beautiful day, far too hot for those expecting a mild late summer day, except that we were in the heart of the Alentejo region, at Herdade da Fita Preta, surrounded by vineyards and Alentejo hills as far as the eye could see. While I’m culling and editing the full gallery fro While I’m culling and editing the full gallery from this wedding, I’ve been thinking that I’m a wedding photographer, that my work is exclusively for the couples who hire me. Not for my portfolio, not for my colleagues, not for the occasional magazine I’d like to be featured in. There’s a reel of David Bowie (who I love) giving an interview about his rule of creativity that keeps popping up and makes me think. About an artist having to create for themselves and never for others. I understand and agree with what he says as far as he’s concerned. But I can’t consider myself an artist in that sense; my work serves others, to create memories for others, and so I literally have to create for them, taking into account their expectations and the importance of their day. It’s not for me, it’s not about me. And I think that when it's done like this, anything is possible! And I’m so happy while I’m doing it!
